The holiday season is my favorite time of year – beginning with Halloween. Every year I’m usually too busy preparing for Summoner’s Con or some other event to be able to create a costume, but this year was different.
Usually when I make costumes, I’m overly picky and spend way too much time working on every aspect of it, this time I was very adamant about just getting it done. I streamed almost the entirety of this costume on my Twitch channel, which forced me to just keep working, rather than sitting and dwelling on how strangely a seam is sewn.
I sewed everything myself, except for the skirt. Through my years of cosplay I’ve made plenty of circle skirts and Nidalee’s was just simple black, so I just ordered one off Amazon and added the orange ribbon to it.
The spear was a broom that I purchased from Home Depot and modified; the spearhead was printed and cleaned, and the broom handle was carved to add texture and stained.
I didn’t make the hat with my usual “Giant Hats” method, this time I wanted it to be more comfortable and lightweight, the only wire used was around the brim edge.
All in all, I’m very satisfied with how this costume turned out. I think it took me about two or three weeks, with my full time day job. My friend, Frances Delgado, shot the costume with me the day after it was complete, and the results were phenomenal.
